Students of all backgrounds are invited to reach out regarding possible roles within the ROSETTA Lab. In general, projects will involve a combination of field and laboratory research. Ideal candidates will have some experience carrying out research in the field, working in chemistry labs, and be comfortable camping/working in remote, northern locations. Experience or interest in numerical modelling is also valued. Fieldwork may take place using boat, canoe, helicopter, or float plane. All necessary training (boating license, wilderness first aid, firearm license, etc.) will be provided as relevant.
If you are excited about the possibility of joining the ROSETTA Lab but do not meet all of the qualifications above, consider reaching out anyway. You may still be a strong candidate!
Undergraduate students
Recruitment of undergraduates students for summer projects and thesis projects is ongoing.
Projects may involve field research in the Ottawa area, northern Canada, or internationally. Many projects will also include a laboratory or petrographic component. These research projects will provide a ‘first taste’ of research and early training toward carrying out research independently.
Students will be supported in applying to the Northern Scientific Training Program and NSERC USRA, and/or other similar awards to gain experience grant writing.
Graduate students
Recruitment of MSc and PhD for summer/fall of 2027 is ongoing.
Students will become independent researchers and develop expertise studying sedimentary (and possibly igneous) rocks in the field, complemented by geochemical and/or geochronological analyses carried out at uOttawa and elsewhere with collaborators.
Prospective graduate students are strongly encouraged to apply for scholarships to support their studies, such as NSERC CGS-M and CGS-D.
Postdoctoral researchers
